The idea behind Fort Knox: The Greatest Heist of All Time was born while listening to a speech by Donald Trump. He proclaimed, with theatrical confidence, that he might go to Fort Knox to check whether the gold was still there. The absurdity of the moment struck a nerve — not only politically, but personally.
I remembered my grandmother. Once a week, she would visit the bank where she held her savings account and ask the clerk to show her the physical cash that matched the balance in her passbook. She needed to see the money to trust its existence. Was Trump doing something similar — demanding a visual confirmation? Or was it something else entirely? A performance for power? A provocation? Or a coded message?
As a lawyer, I'm trained to listen beyond the words. To weigh what is said, what is unsaid, and what might be meant. Within days, a narrative began forming in my mind — improbable at first, then disturbingly plausible. What began as a legal analysis of Trump’s statement transformed into something larger, darker, and more fictional. That’s when I started writing.
